ماهو wimax cpe customer premises equipment
Customer Provided Equipment
Connecting To The WiMAX Wireless Network
تابع ايضا :
CPE or Customer Provided Equipment designates consumer owned devices being part of the connection process.
These devices can be a wimax router, VoIP phone, laptop, or smart phone.
There are several types of WiMAX CPE compliant devices, and particular electronic form factors can make the difference in how your device connects and operates with the WiMAX network.
WiMAX hardware can be built to different specifications depending on which type of WiMAX access point it was designed to negotiate communications with, which is why were going to cover in greater detail some of the customer premise equipment that’s available on the market.
WiMAX coverage is probably the key reason why subscribers become attracted to all the WiMAX Providers solutions and services.
Before you run out and purchase a WiMAX CPE complaint device take a moment to read on and understand just exactly how these high tech systems operate.
WHNME will educate you on the different types of WiMAX, so you purchase the correct equipment.
WiMAX CPE Getting started:
When talking about WiMAX CPE devices the first thing that needs to be mentioned is that there are two different wireless standards that customer provided equipment is manufactured to, 802.16d (Fixed) and 802.16e (Mobile) applications.
Other wireless standards include 802.11a/b/g and /n for WiFi Technology, and 802.15 for Bluetooth Technology.
WiMAX CPE Getting started:
We’re going to explain the different types of WiMAX 802.16d and /e customer premise equipment available and advise you on which products operate with both fixed and mobile WiMAX coverage antennas, so you can shop for your equipment with confidence and explain your needs accurately when talking with sales associates.
To make things easy we have grouped WiMAX CPE devices by wireless standard and functionality, so you will understand by your own activities which device will be right for you.
WiMAX Subscriber Units: (802.16d Indoor/Outdoor units)
Indoor (SU-I) and outdoor (SU-O) WiMAX CPE subscriber units are both (Fixed) 802.16d devices, which means they are not designed to relay connection handling between WiMAX base station towers, and are used for home and office Internet service.
Fixed customer WiMAX hardware being either an indoor or outdoor (802.16d) WiMAX router subscriber unit, are designed to receive WiMAX 3.65GHz or 5.8GHz signals broadcasted from Fixed Base Station WiMAX coverage antennas.
Outdoor subscriber units are needed when obstructions are present between the customers service location and the closest “fixed” WiMAX tower requiring an outdoor antenna unit to pick up the weakened signals.
The outdoor subscriber unit then transfers the signal via cable to the indoor WiMAX router which retransmits the wireless signal into 2.4GHz WiFi signals that your wireless home network devices use to communicate.
WiMAX laptops: (802.16e USB modem and Mini PCI-e Card)
This next type of WiMAX CPE equipment operates completely different then WiMAX fixed equipment, and ONLY communicates with WiMAX antennas that broadcast from WiMAX mobile towers.
Laptops which are WiMAX wireless enabled either have an embedded Intel Centrino WiMAX chipset or a connected internal WiMAX PCIe mini card which operates on the 802.16e wireless standard.
WiMAX coverage for 802.16e devices are ONLY for Mobile towers which have special handling for mobile signals that travel between service areas.
Laptops containing the added WiMAX PCIe mini card will also have a second wireless mini card for connecting to 802.11g\n WiFi signal broadcasts.
The 802.16e WiMAX hardware mini card or WiMAX USB modem is used for mobile computing between service areas on 802.16e WiMAX antennas ONLY, while the 802.11g\n card is used for connecting inside your home via your standard wireless router on 2.4GHz or 5.8GHz WiFi signals.
WiMAX Hotspot: (802.16e MiFi and Smart Phone)
One of the benefits of WiMAX coverage is having the ability to have wireless Internet on the go, so WiMAX technology based companies have created a very ingenious WiMAX CPE accessory to have in your collection of high tech gadgets, the WiMAX hotspot.
WiMAX mobile hotspots also use WiMAX Mobile Base Station towers operating on the 802.16e wireless standard just as the WiMAX USB modem and PCIe mini card, however they also function as a WiMAX router allowing up to 5 simultaneous Internet connections through your WiMAX mobile provider service.
The MiFi hotspot is an 802.16e wireless Portable Wireless Access Point with an extremely small form factor that can be concealed easily in a pant or shirt pocket, enabling you to bring your wireless network with you everywhere you travel. The MiFi then allows connection via 2.4GHz WiFi signals with up to 5 devices.
The Smart Phone mobile hotspot which also supports up to 5 devices is available on select WiMAX enabled wireless mobile devices provided by cellular carriers such as; Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon wireless. If you own a mobile smart phone from one of these carriers you can add the WiMAX hotspot feature for around $10 a month.
